Long Description

MARS calculates eigenmodes in 2D axisymmetric toroidal equilibria in MHD-kinetic plasma models. MARS models MHD instabilities with low, intermediate and high toroidal mode numbers within both fluid and kinetic plasma models, for simulation of kink, tearing and peeling-ballooning instabilities.

Typical workflows

This module is used to:

  • run MARS

  • calculate the ideal wall limit

  • calculate the no-wall limit

  • Resistive Wall Mode stability with drift-kinetic effects

  • perform pressure scans (coupled with OMFIT :ref:’CHEASE <mod_CHEASE>’ module)

  • Equivalent Surface Current (ESC) Workflow

  • Plasma Response calculation
