Tools for studying the DIII-D plasma control system, planning new controls, and interpreting results. Some of the scripts in this OMFIT module are intended to interact with output from TokSys simservers.

Typical workflows

  • General control system identification (fit response to command to 1st or 2nd order model)

  • General control system quality assessment (fit response to target to 1st or 2nd order model, calculate secondary quality metrics)

  • Radiated power control (submodule): Plan setup of radiated power control and analyze control performance

  • Detachment control: Plan detachment control and interpret results

  • Gas command planner: Calculate gas flow vs. command, or command for a desired flow. Also anticipate gas dribble effect for predicting total gas amount in a pulse of specified length.

EAST_US and EAST_GA should be maintained to point at the appropriate MDSplus server/mirror for accessing EAST data from the US. As of 20170110, that server is eastdata.gat.com, but if you use the EAST_US pointer, then you shouldn’t have to update if this changes later (the pointer should be updated centrally in OMFIT).
